Double Chocolate Cookie Bars

This is a similar recipe to one I previously posted.  I just love these cookies! Super easy to make and so chocolately and delicious!  I added a bit more Oreos on top than recipe called for.   Everyone loves these treats.  Try them!  Just make sure they are totally cool before you cut them.

Double Chocolate Cookie Bars

Ingredients:

24 chocolate sandwich cookies

1/4 cup butter, melted

1 (14 ounce) can sweetened condensed milk

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

2 cups semisweet chocolate chips

Directions:

1. Preheat the oven to 325 degrees F (165 degrees C).

2. Set aside 6 cookies and grind the rest in a food processor or blender. In a small bowl, stir together the cookie crumbs and butter until well blended. Press into the bottom of an 11x13 inch pan.  (Note: I made a double recipe and used my 12x16 Wilton pan and it fit perfectly. I would think that a 13x9 inch pan would work better for a single recipe?.)

3. Over a double boiler or in the microwave, melt 1 cup of chocolate chips together with the condensed milk and vanilla. Stir frequently until smooth. Spread evenly over the crumb crust. Sprinkle the remaining cup of chocolate chips over the top. Break remaining cookies into pieces by hand and sprinkle over the top.

4. Bake for 20 to 25 minutes in the preheated oven. Cool completely before cutting into bars.

  3. These look amazing. Did you use 24 regular sized Oreo's or did you use the mini's? I think I'm going to HAVE to make this. My sweet tooth is calling :0)

  10. I just made these, and they are delicious! I added a bit of coconut to the top to break up the chocolate a bit (not that it needed it!) Thanks for a great recipe!

  15. To tell you the truth, I'm not sure how many bars this produces. I made a double recipe in a totally different size pan than they suggested and I did not cut them all evenly. We just cut pieces off as we ate them - some big and some little slivers. I would say a single recipe in a 13x9 inch pan would result in about 20 pieces. 5 rows of 4 bars across. Some people would say that's way too big of a piece but I guess that's just personal opinion.
