These are your basic sugar cookies, decorated with royal icing. I used edible glitter to make them sparkle and I added some pretty molded sugar or royal icing decorations to make them colorful. I also decorated some of the cookies with a big swirl of buttercream and with a variety of sprinkles! Those photos are near the bottom.
Enjoy and Happy Valentines Day!
Enjoy and Happy Valentines Day!
See the beautiful sun streaming through the window? That was the only 10 minutes of sunshine we received today. It's been raining and soggy ever since. I guess I timed my photos right.
This is the best recipe for sugar cookies if using a cutter and you don't want to lose the definition of your baked cookie.
No Fail Sugar Cookie
6 cups flour
3 tsp. baking powder
2 cups butter
2 cups sugar
2 eggs
2 tsp. vanilla extract
1 tsp. salt
very pretty!
ReplyDeleteThey look delicious! I mostly bake cupcakes, so I made Valentine's day cupcakes yesterday. It was a lot of work but probably less than you had to do.
ReplyDeleteWhat is the texture of your sugar cookies: crispy or soft texture?
ReplyDeleteI always roll my dough out to be pretty thick so my cookies stay soft but this same recipe can produce crispy cookies if u roll your dough thin. If u simply sprinkle your cookies with sugar before baking (no icing) they are more likely to stay crispy but if you cover them with any sort of icing after baking & cooling it will add moisture & soften them.
